We currently recommend the debogger plugin. Here:

In this ticket: https://themes.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/20105 the debogger was throwing an error because of not having a sidebar.php. Something we allow. As the plugin isn’t being updated, I would like to suggest we stop recommending it. What do people think?
