Looking for feedback
The team reps have been reviewing the Training Team’s 2024 goals and have two items for the team to discuss to provide clarity and achievability.
- @bsanevans : Thank you for input last week regarding the goal “Brainstorm the evolution of Online Workshops”. Currently, the Meetup.com Online Workshop group has over 10,000 registered members. We’d like to send these members a three question survey to collect their input. What do folks think about asking these three questions
- What is currently working well with Online Workshops?
- What would you like to see changed with Online Workshops?
- What Online Workshop topic(s) would you like to attend?
- Regarding the goal “Create and maintain shared resources that promote the Training Team and Learn”, we’re still looking for input from the team. Please add your thoughts to last week’s thread to continue the conversation.
- When do we feel satisfied that this is met? What resources are we lacking? We have slides and supporting materials for various things in our shared folder.
Moving on, here are some other topics looking for feedback

- New handbook page – Video Best Practices
- @zoonini has published a new page in the Resources section of the handbook called Video Best Practices, which replaces the previous video and sound information in the Creating a lesson page. This is intended as a starting point to help content creators create good quality video recordings for lessons on Learn.WordPress.org.

- Brainstorming WordCamp Europe 2024 Contributor Day tasks.

Also, thank you to everyone who volunteered to lead training’s table at contributor dayContributor Day Contributor Days are standalone days, frequently held before or after WordCamps but they can also happen at any time. They are events where people get together to work on various areas of https://make.wordpress.org/ There are many teams that people can participate in, each with a different focus. https://make.wordpress.org/support/handbook/getting-started/getting-started-at-a-contributor-day/. Team reps will be announcing table leads shortly.
Other news
@digitalchild has accepted to become an interim team repTeam Rep A Team Rep is a person who represents the Make WordPress team to the rest of the project, make sure issues are raised and addressed as needed, and coordinates cross-team efforts., starting mid-June
@bsanevans will be going on a three month leave from the end of June and won’t be able to fulfill his team rep duties during this time. He will be returning at the end of September, and fully intend on serving the team for the remainder of the year as team rep.
Following the procedure listed in the handbook, team reps have reached out to Jamie to cover for me as interim team rep while I’m absent. Jamie has graciously accepted and will be starting team rep responsibilities from mid-June, so that there is some overlap with me before I go on leave.
Please congratulate and welcome @digitalchild as interim team rep for the Training Team!
- The developer squad will be meeting later today for another triage session. Please join the team in #meta-learn at 07:00 UTC.
- Handbook updates
- As part of the Learn Redesign project, content types on Learn are getting streamlined. With the Lesson content type becoming the focus of Learn, the Lesson Plan and Tutorial handbook pages have been moved to under the Resources section in the handbook.
- A team goal has been completed
- One goal the team had for Q2 this year was “Create or update a handbook page that clarifies where people’s contributions to the team will appear/be displayed”. An update has been made to the onboarding program to include this information.
- The Training Team’s Guide Program is growing – and we need your help
- @zoonini who oversees the team’s Guide Program) will be hosting an Online Workshop, explaining all about the team’s Guide Program. Come join this session, and also share this Online Workshop in your networks.
- @sumitsingh and @devmuhib will also be speaking in this workshop, sharing their experiences as a guide.
- The team is also looking for more guides in the program. Kathryn has also published a post on the team’s blog with more information. Please reach out if you’re interested.

Project updates
- Project Thread: Learning Pathways on Learn WordPress
- As we near the tentative launch date of July 2024, we need volunteers to help with creating a marketing campaign for Learning Pathways. @webcommsat volunteered last week, and it would be great if we could have another 2 people or so join. Please comment in this thread if you’d like to help out
- Project thread: The second Learn WordPress Course Cohort has launched.
- 17 people have signed up! The first call will be happening later today.
