PHP Documentation Comments

@lucp and @milana_cap:

  • An upwards of 60% of comments in the old PHP documentation don’t abide by WordPress coding standards.
  • @lucp posted feedback comments noting this issue.
  • Most of it is around spacing and parenthesis, which will be a task for a smaller contributor day.
  • Escaping or internationalization is suitable for fixing now.
  • @lucp will open an issue in the WordPress docs GitHub repo to track the issues that need resolving, RE: escaping and translation-fixing.
  • Code reference comments (user-contributed notes) are a part of the docs team purview. Comments is the underlying code base that’s used for it.
  • There’s a review process for new comments that’s completed by the DevHub team.
  • User Notes (DevHub) Curators: @audrasjb, @crstauf

5.9 Issues for HelpHub

@femkreations:

  • Issues with WordPress version 5.9 for the HelpHub are being worked on.
  • Later, the issues will be merged into the 6.0 project.
  • A lot of images don’t have ALT text and this needs to be emphasized for adding screenshots to HelpHub articles.
  • @milana_cap noted that ALT text is mentioned in the docs team Handbook.
  • A list will be added for this to the GitHub Issue Template for resolving on WordCamp contributor days.
  • An extra phase in the content review process will be added to address this issue.

@milana_cap will add a link to the list on the Leading a Contribution Day Handbook page.

Props to @ninianepress for writing the notes.
