Project Updates
@bhp gave an update on the Docs Team:
- Big thank you to @incapit who tackled a new page Keyboard Navigation & Shortcuts, @Tom Rankin for Mac Support, and @bizanimesh for review and publishing the first iteration is now online.
- @geheren is working on identifying updates that will come to 5.7
- @tomrankin and I and who else would like to join use planning for Full Site Editing documentation 5.8. It’s still early and the UIs are not settled yet…. but it’s also a big topic so we might need more time to tackle it.
- @newyorkerlaura is updating the Media + Text page
- Matthew McCabe needs support for his first contribution.
- Welcome also to @lauramaray as a new contributor.
@atachibana gave an update on the Contents team
- Contents team is migrating and re-routing Codex to Code Reference Hooks: 320 of 355 (90.1% from 83.4% the last week). Amazing work from @stevenlinx.
@justinahinon pointed out that the following:
- Gutenberg handbook table of contents is still in progress (https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/28460).
- Plans to merge at the beginning of next week.
@milana_cap pointed out that on External Linking Policy in the plugin handbook they are halfway through the second phase, She’ll publish first phase results.
New Member Mentoring
6 new members joined #docs in the week between 25 and 31 January 2021.
Mentoring team to focus on contacting the new members from the past 2 weeks.
Monthly Coffee Break Summary (January 2021)
Plans for next Coffee Break
@chaion07 suggested that it would be a great idea to give preference to different time zones and more facilitators.
@milana_cap suggested that:
- Write down what is expected from the host and who to contact for possible questions (like we have for facilitating the meeting).
- Try to get the next host promised at the actual break.
Google Season of Docs
@tacitonic reported on the following:
Updates for this week:
- I’m about to complete the final Developer Content section tonight.
- Currently awaiting approval for these articles: External linking, obsolete docs.
- The final item left is the Word list and usage dictionary. This would most likely be a running article and words would be added as and when they are deemed to be important enough.
