Translating content on LearnWP
We’ve had a lot of interest in translating courses to other languages. @courane01 is in discussion with @evarlese in #polyglots for further insight into the rollout of GlotPress. And also discussed with @dd32 briefly about the interest and how to work smartly as a team, knowing the site functionality changes, how long it will be (quite a while) for GlotPress fully available, etc.
Other decision-making topics:
- Social Learning Spaces (SLS) streaming platforms
- Learn WordPress version taxonomy
- Proposal: Faculty Program Structure
These are open for feedback. Please provide your feedback.
Across the teams – this is news across several teams.
- 5.9 Restrospective
- OpenVerse
- Big Picture Goals
- Big Ideas for 2022
- Preliminary Roadmap
- Sensei – big update, and this is used on LearnWP
- Discussion: 2022 Major Release Timing

- What did you do?
- Any blockers?
- What will you do next week?

- Keep working on 5.9 related content, compare Jan sprint with TrelloTrello Project management system using the concepts of boards and cards to organize tasks in a sane way. This is what the make.wordpress.com/marketing team uses for example: https://trello.com/b/8UGHVBu8/wp-marketing., assist with creating the Feb sprint, get some extra sleep.
- Reviewing the new courses, write the Retro post, review 2 recaps, work on Trello > GithubGitHub GitHub is a website that offers online implementation of git repositories that can easily be shared, copied and modified by other developers. Public repositories are free to host, private repositories require a paid subscription. GitHub introduced the concept of the ‘pull request’ where code changes done in branches by contributors can be reviewed and discussed before being merged by the repository owner. https://github.com/ move, revise the audio on the Navigation workshop vid and reupload to all the corresponding locations, meet with interested contributors, publish team update on /updates
- Time
- Hopefully, Trello > Github will be ready, finish reviewing 2 lesson plans and a course. Comment on all the posts that needed feedback.
- Worked on February Sprint and made sure there is a Trello card for all the content.
- All the above and I reviewed a couple of lesson plans, courses and wrote some tweets for the Yoast contributor dayContributor Day Contributor Days are standalone days, frequently held before or after WordCamps but they can also happen at any time. They are events where people get together to work on various areas of https://make.wordpress.org/ There are many teams that people can participate in, each with a different focus. https://make.wordpress.org/support/handbook/getting-started/getting-started-at-a-contributor-day/. If there are any Trello cards missing from the Sprint, please let me know.
- Time
- Continue reviewing any content.
- I have a lot of things moving right now!
- Child Themes is in a bulleted outline of a lesson plan; theme.JsonJSON JSON, or JavaScript Object Notation, is a minimal, readable format for structuring data. It is used primarily to transmit data between a server and web application, as an alternative to XML. overview has materials now on Styles, so that’s coming along; I discovered something fun (sidebars!) and made an accidental workshop.
- Time. Still being pulled in lots of directions.
- Next week, I will finish the workshop and continue building the lesson plans. I will also probably start development on a Query LoopLoop The Loop is PHP code used by WordPress to display posts. Using The Loop, WordPress processes each post to be displayed on the current page, and formats it according to how it matches specified criteria within The Loop tags. Any HTML or PHP code in the Loop will be processed on each post. https://codex.wordpress.org/The_Loop workshop, to accompany that lesson plan.
Worked on meeting recap and worked with @courtney, @hauwa to promote Lesson plans to MeetupMeetup All local/regional gatherings that are officially a part of the WordPress world but are not WordCamps are organized through https://www.meetup.com/. A meetup is typically a chance for local WordPress users to get together and share new ideas and seek help from one another.
