Slack Log (Requires Slack login to view. Set one up if you don’t have a Slack account)

  1. Welcome
  2. Lesson Plan Updates
    1. No updates on the plugin lesson plans that were assigned last week.
    2. @taupecat might take on the “Adding Additional Fields” lesson plan and will talk to @bethsoderberg on what that would entail.
    3. @wpaleks is going to work on the “Migrate, Copy, or Clone a Site” lesson plan.
    4. It’s taking longer to put together the speaker plan P2 post than @bethsoderberg expected.
  3. Copyediting Updates
    1. @bethsoderberg finished a second copyedit of the Setting a Static Page as Your Homepage lesson plan and it is ready for testing.
    2. @Becks979 is working on some questions related to the General History lesson plan this week.
    3. @meaganhanes is still working on the Content Editor Overview and should be done this week.
    4. The User Management plan written by @anthonydpaul is ready to go into copyediting.
  4. Tier 2 Theme Workshop
    1. We are not listing evaluating a theme, finding a theme for your site, and activating themes on your site as separate lessons that are part of this workshop as they are already part of the Choosing a Theme lesson plan from the Tier 1 workshop.
    2. We clarified that  Tier 2 theme plans will involve making updates to existing themes without necessarily building a child theme or a custom theme. This means that the Anatomy of a Theme and Intro to Theme Testing plans should move to Tier 3.
    3. We’ve decided on the tentative following list for the initial Tier 2 Theme Workshop (please vote on this on the P2 post!):
      • Basic Theme Configuration
      • Include how to find theme-specific configuration documentation.
      • Customizer
        • Css changes, taglines, and static front page or not
        • Site icon/logo, Header image, background images
        • Menus in the Customizer
      • Font management
  5. Questions and Announcements
    1. @bethsoderberg rearranged the menu on the Handbook so that it includes ONLY the lesson plans that fall into one or more of the following categories: currently assigned to someone and in progress, ready to test, in copyediting, planned for a Tier 2 group. If you notice that something is missing, please speak up!
    2. @melindahelt reports that part 1 of Pittsburgh’s Tier 1 test went pretty good overall. They have some specific feedback points, but will wait and submit it all at once after they finish on Saturday.
    3. @skarjune reports that WordCamp Minneapolis will be testing many-most of the User LPs with 3 trainers & 25-45 students on May 20.
    4. @chanthaboune confirmed that we are having trouble getting a date on the calendar for the actual workshop, but that we are still working on it. She also noted that we are also partnering with Connecting for Good in Kansas City.
    5. @melindahelt brought up the idea of seeing if we could partner with local/national Girl or Boy Scouts too.
