If you are reading these notes on a website other than the Make WordPress Marketing blog, you can add comments directly to the #marketing channel on the Make WordPress Slack or via the team’s blog. The team may not be aware of comments you add on other sites which replicate the notes.
1. Welcome and introduction
- The meeting discussions on the Marketing team channel on Slack start with this message in the Make WordPress Slack. You can add to the threads if you were unable to attend the meeting live or for its full duration. If an update relates to a task, please also update the relevant GitHub card on the GitHub tasks board. This is the main project tracking area for the team.
- Meeting notes: @vimes1984
- Meeting notes editor/ reviewer: @lmurillom
- For those new to the team, the New Contributor Orientation section of the Handbook can be a good place to start. You can also visit the team’s GitHub task board and join any card you are interested in. All you need is a GitHub account to add a comment or update to a relevant card/ ticket.
2. Getting to know each other
2a. Attendance
The Slack thread lists who came along to the meeting live or asynchronously.
2b. Social Question
If you could make one item with a 3D printer, what would it be?
You can read replies in this Slack thread. It is a good way to start getting to know some of the other contributors in the team if you are new to it.
3. Notetakers and coffee break facilitators – volunteer opportunities
3a. Can you help take notes?
Thank you to our note-taking volunteers for the next few weeks.
The GitHub card for all aspects of each week’s meeting and any collaboration are linked below by date. We set up cards a couple of weeks in advance of each meeting. Please message Nalini on Slack if you are unsure how to add comments to the GitHub card.
If you have suggestions for the agendas for these meetings or have an update you can give asynchronously, you can also add them to the card (links below) for the relevant week.

3b. Help to facilitate a coffee break?
The team is looking for contributors to open the virtual coffee shop in the bi-weekly coffee break. Check out GitHub card #23 and add your name to the list if you’re interested. We even have a complete guide for facilitators to help.

- 12 January 2023 (6.30pm UTC) – volunteer needed
4. Team Rep nominations 2023
You can read more about this role in our blog post: 2023 Team Rep Nominations for Marketing. GitHub card #38
After discussions with the team and team reps, we’ve decided to move into 2023 with 3 team reps again. There were some who preferred we limit ourselves to 2, but based on this past year, even with 3 team reps, we often had weeks where only one of us was available to organize the weekly meeting. We’re still a growing team and more team reps increases the touch-points for new contributors.
With three team rep positions available, from those nominated, we have three contributors who have confirmed they will stand for 2023. For 2023 team reps will be @robinwpdeveloper @santanainniss and @sereedmedia Congratulations and welcome! A post will follow later in the week.
Marketing Team annual celebration – planned for week commencing January 16, 2023.

The main Marketing Team task board is available in GitHub. If you would like help using GitHub, please reply in this thread. There is help available.
Two updates from last week’s open floor:
- Updates to the design and functionality of make.WordPress.org. Some people have had accessibility issues with comments, some think they can be improved for readability, and other comments on greater ease of navigation between teams. A GitHub will card to be created for this.
- There is a new post on Showcase. This has been added to the macro card #55. If anyone else has an update on this, please comment in the thread.
Marketing Team badges #153 – @nalininonstopnewsuk has received messages about badges from people who had contributed to the team over some time. Please add to this thread if you have been actively contributing for a while to the marketing team and would like to request a badge.
5b. Updates on WordPress.org social media accounts and how you can help
Our WordPress Social Media Amplification (GitHub ticket #7) details how you can help share and amplify WordPress news on social media. You will also find a list of the primary WordPress.org social accounts and campaign contacts if you would like to help craft content.

This was our strongest week of the year in terms of engagement, and our strongest campaigns came from the SOTW campaigns as we were actively promoting the event all week.
