Lesson videos on Learn.WordPress.org can be consumed in one of two ways:
- As part of a course or Learning Pathway on Learn.WordPress.org
- As either stand-alone videos or part of a playlist on the WordPress YouTube channel
For this reason, it’s a good idea that Lesson videos follow the following guidelines:
- Each Lesson should have a title card that introduces the lesson content
- Each Lesson should have at least one learning outcome.
- If the Lesson is an introduction to a specific topic, try to find at least one learning outcome to achieve in that lesson.
- At the start of each Lesson you should briefly outline what the learning outcome is for the Lesson
- This can be as simple as a single sentence, for example: “In this Lesson, you will be learning how to publish WordPress posts”.
- You may use more detailed learning outcomes, for example: “In this Lesson, you will learn what WordPress posts are, how to create posts, and how to publish them”.
- Try to vary the learning outcome(s). For example, don’t start every Lesson with “In this Lesson you will learn…”
- It should be possible to learn the specific outcome from the Lesson
- You can mention or refer to other Lessons, but the learning outcome for a Lesson should be achievable from just the Lesson itself.
