June 4th Support Team Meeting Summary

First up, we have General announcements

This week there’s no major items that needs to be shared in the general support side of things, but we’ve got WordCamp Europe Online 2020 happening tomorrow (hence the contributor day today)

The marketing team is looking for input from meetup organizers over at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeaLIWWdYW9H3Say1Qx7WwbIAULuHDODfLCJ4_hYP5OqJfFZw/viewform

WordPress 5.4.2-RC1 was released yesterday (https://make.wordpress.org/core/2020/06/03/wordpress-5-4-2-rc-1/), for those unfamiliar, RC1 means this is a Release Candidate, and what we expect to release and expect it to be bug free, but we know bugs happen, so it’s up there for testing for those who are able to do so!

Checking in with international liaisons
We have a lot of fantastic members spread all over the world (courtesy ping to @tobifjellner, @hardeepasrani, @cristiano.zanca, @yui, @motchi0214, @valeriosza, @richardvd, @pmfonseca, @fernandot, @xkon, @nikolam, @abdullahramzan, @Kartik Shukla and @FahimMurshed whom we’ve already been introduced to) that help out in the various non-English speaking forums. If you’re not named, don’t worry, it just means we’ve not been formally introduced, so please let us know where you’re from and how things are going if you’d like to!

Let’s have a nice spot of friendly appreciation that our colleagues over in Drupal land launched Drupal 9 recently :slightly_smiling_face:

Is it like Facebook around here, where nothing is deleted? The database just grows and grows?

Yes and no, we delete spam, we archive posts which violate the forum guidelines in a manner in which we can’t edit out a minor part for the good of all.

Feel free to drop by anytime to chat and ask for support. You can also follow this conversation on slack
