Locale Managers of each locale team have permission to add other users to their Rosetta site.
For further details of user roles for Polyglots contributors, check out the Roles and Capabilities page.
Adding new Editors, Authors, and Contributors
Adding a Rosetta Site User
If you want other team members to help maintain the Rosetta site contents, you will need to add them as WordPress users.
To do so, go to Users in the admin menu and select New user. Add their e-mail address or username and choose a role for them.
Adding a Translation Editor
To enable a user to moderate translations, go to the Translation Editors screen. Add their e-mail address or username and choose the permission level for them. You can enable a Translation Editor to edit translations for all projects, a category of projects, multiple projects or a single project.

Adding a General Translation Editor
To add a new General Translation Editor, go to the “Translation Editors” screen and scroll down to the bottom section.

Type in the email address or the username of the user you’d like to add, then set the access to All projects (selected by default) from the options below.

Adding a Project Translation Editor
To add a new Project Translation Editor, follow the steps below:
- From the Dashboard, select “Translation Editors”
- At the bottom of the screen, type in the email address or the username of the new PTE
- Set the access level to Custom as displayed in the image below (“Custom” is the default value here)
- On the next screen, select the project type (Plugin, Theme, App, etc) by clicking directly on the corresponding category text label.
Important – if you click in the box next to the word “Plugins”, “Meta”, etc., then all projects under this category are selected. If you by mistake select all sub-projects for a category for someone who had some projects assigned since before, then you need to reload/refresh the page (F5 / ctrl-R) without saving, otherwise the information about previously granted projects will be lost. - Type in the name of the project in the field above the list to filter the list
- Check all the projects you’d like to add the user to
- Click Update

If you are assigning additional projects to an existing PTE, use the search box at the top right of the Translation Editors main screen to search for the user.

Hover over their username, and click the “Edit” link. The process after this is the same as adding a new PTE.

Configure the automatic email notifications for new translation editors
Whenever someone is added as a General Translation Editor or Project Translation Editor, they immediately receive a notification via email to let them know that they have been added as a translation editor.
The email includes a list of the projects (name + link) and some other links to help them get started. Besides the default links, each locale team can extend the email with other helpful resources. To do that, you have to create a new navigation menu in the admin of your Rosetta site and assign it to the Resources for translation editors menu location.

Since GTEs are likely to be familiar with how the locale team works, the welcome email sent to them is a bit different. It requests that they fill their WordPress.org profile, register on Slack, and subscribe for notifications for their locales.
You’ll find the related strings in the Rosetta project at https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/meta/rosetta (filter by the term “Translation Editor” to find the corresponding string).
