I propose we build a WordPress profile bio block, that, given a WordPress username, pulls the name, image and the bio from that users profile.wordpress page and displays it, and links back to the profile page. This could then be used by WordCamp organizers instead of creating a speaker page for every speaker, which is inevitably going to be out of date, creates a lot of work etc.
Doing this dramatically reduces the number of pages on individual WordCamp sites, thus making it less work for the organizing team and reducing duplicate content between WordCamp sites.
The WordPress profile page of course should link back to the WordCamp page, preferably with a filter on the profile page showing future and previous speaking engagement for the user. This in turn improves interlinking of WordPress.org and WordCamp.org. In a later stage, we would ideally also tie this to WordPress.tv.
Would love to hear feedback for the next few weeks, say till end of June?
Thanks to @jonoalderson, @adamwood and @pkevan for discussing this with me at the #WCEU contributor day.
