The Community Team chat takes place the first Thursday of every month.
This meeting is meant for all contributors on the team and everyone who is interested in taking part in some of the things our team does. Feel free to join us, even if you are not currently active in the team!
Asia-Pacific / EMEA friendly meeting: Thursday, 6 April at 12:00 PM UTC
Americas friendly meeting: Thursday, 6 April at 21:00 PM UTC
You will find a preliminary agenda for the meeting below.
If you wish to add points to discuss, comment on this post or reach out to one of the team reps: @leo, @nukaga, or @mysweetcate. It does not need to be a blog post yet, the topic can be discussed during the meeting nevertheless. We use the same agenda for both meetings.
Check-ins: Deputies / Mentors / Contributors
- What have you been doing and how is it going?
- What did you accomplish after the last meeting?
- Are there any blockers?
- Can other team members help you in some way?
Highlights to Note
Here are a few things everyone should be aware of.
- Community Team Training #7: Community Team Roles Overview & Discussion – Recently, there was a proposal to streamline the roles within the WordPress Community Team. This discussion session aims to provide an opportunity for the team members to explain their roles, answer any questions the community may have, and gather feedback from the attendees.
- These are the two posts that relate to the training. Both posts are undergoing revisions based on feedback. Updated versions should be out next week. Some names have changed and information adjusted for clarity, but the basic information will be consistent:
- Community Team Goals for 2023 : Next Step – The 2023 Community Goals are posted on Trello. Please leave feedback there.
- Launching the Contributor Working Group: Call for Volunteers – The mentorship program is going to be an ambitious endeavor, and its success depends on support and contributions from passionate volunteers. Even though this group is tied to the Make/Community Team, its work spans the entire project. If you’d like to help out, read more.
- Running Funds Outside of WPCS – For some communities, handling the financial aspects of a WordCamp locally, versus through WordPress Community Support, is much easier, whether it be due to government regulations or banking restrictions. Due to this, a new section has been created in the WordCamp Organizer’s Handbook for “Running the money outside of WPCS”.
- For Community Deputies: Stefano Cassone created a spreadsheet of all of the HelpScout tags so we can sort them, update what we need to keep, and remove what we don’t. Please help out! You can learn more in the Slack conversation here.
