Discussion on the inclusion of additional fields from Flickr
There was a request to include the original_secret key from Flickr to allow the download of the original image, which could provide useful data for researchers like the EXIF metadata. The team agrees saving the new fields is possible but expressed concerns about whether this “secret” should be exposed through Openverse. Aaron Gokaslan mentioned Flickr included it previously in the YFCC100M dataset, which presents a positive precedent. @zackkrida provided options for consumers to extract the data directly from the Flickr API instead. We will follow up by connecting with Flickr and get a sense of how they feel about us collecting the parameter.
A new component for metasearch improvement
@fcoveram asked if the new button for searching in external sources (a.k.a metasearch) requires building a new component, similar to the “Load more content” button. The frontend team agrees to create a separate component. See the GH issue for more information.
