This page provides detailed information on Training Team Profile Badges and the process of requesting badges on your WordPress.org profile.
Team onboarding is the primary and required step before acquiring any badge. Please complete the 30-60 minute onboarding program from Training Team – Getting Started.
The onboarding program will lead you down one of 5 paths corresponding to 5 “areas of contribution” in the Training Team. Regardless of which path you choose, you will be guided through:
- The Training Team’s mission
- Creating a WordPress.org, Slack, and GitHub account and understanding what each are used for in the Training Team
- Completing your first contribution (quick tasks that can be completed within 30-60 minutes)
- Further contribution opportunities beyond onboarding
- Introduction to team meeting times
At the end of each path, there is a Google form inviting you to leave your name to show your interest in further contributions to the team.
There are a total of 2 badges in the training team.
Training Contributor Badge
To get a Training Contributor Badge, you must have completed at least one of these:
- Recap Notes: You have published 5 Meeting Recap Notes.
- Writing – You have developed and published 3 new lessons from scratch or completely rewritten one that was outdated.
- Copyediting/Reviewing – You have copyedited or reviewed 3 pieces of content using the review template found in Guidelines for reviewing content. Please add additional comments about the lesson to help the author improve the quality.
- Online Workshops – You have facilitated 3 online workshops or co-hosted 5 online workshops.
- Code Contribution to the Learn website – You have created or reviewed 3 pull requests, either bug fixes or enhancements, to be merged into the Learn WordPress codebase. These pull requests need to have also been reviewed and approved by at least one member of the Triage Squad or the WordPress Meta team.
- Content Translation – You have successfully reviewed and/or published 3 translated pieces of content on the Learn website.
The team may choose to award the badge for other contributions or a combination of the above at the team’s discretion.
Training Team Badge
If you are currently in the “Performing” step of our contributor ladder and have been involved in the Training Team for the past twelve months, you are eligible for a Training Team Badge.
Requesting a profile badge
If you meet the criteria above, please request a badge from the buttons below. Please include any links to resources that show you have met the criteria above.
A Training Team Rep will confirm your contribution and assign you a badge. There will be a monthly review of contributions and badges will be awarded at that time. The training team will post updates on new profile badges awarded in the Training Team meeting.
